Aurum Vineyards offers the best of both worlds — easy access to Yosemite National Park and a beautiful, peaceful setting to return to when the day is done. Guests can enjoy world-famous scenery, waterfalls, and hiking during the day, then come back to vineyard views, open skies, and a more relaxed pace in the foothills. It is an ideal way to experience Yosemite while still enjoying comfort, space, and quiet at the end of your adventure.

One of the pleasures of staying at Aurum Vineyards is that the journey to Yosemite is part of the experience. The drive follows scenic Highway 140 along the Merced River, offering a beautiful approach into the park with river views, changing light, and classic Sierra foothill scenery along the way. Aurum is approximately 28 miles from the Arch Rock Entrance, which is about a 40-minute drive to the park entrance and roughly 1 hour to Yosemite Valley floor, depending on traffic and seasonal conditions. It is an easy and memorable route that lets guests enjoy the beauty of the region before they even arrive in the park.

Even simply driving through Yosemite Valley offers remarkable views at every turn, and a few stops stand out as guest favorites. Tunnel View is one of the most iconic places in the park for photography, offering the sweeping scene many visitors imagine when they think of Yosemite. El Capitan is another unforgettable sight, and there are beautiful pullouts and meadow trails nearby where you can pause, take photos, and enjoy the scale of the landscape. For many guests, these classic valley viewpoints are the perfect introduction to the park.

When open for the season, Glacier Point is one of Yosemite’s most spectacular viewpoints and a favorite for panoramic scenery. Guests looking for a slightly quieter option may also enjoy the Sentinel Dome Trail, which offers similarly breathtaking views with a more peaceful trail experience. In spring, the area around Glacier Point Road can also be especially beautiful, with access to scenic spots like Illilouette Falls. These higher-elevation viewpoints are perfect for those wanting dramatic scenery without committing to a full-day hike.

Yosemite offers everything from easy waterfall walks to more ambitious hiking routes. The Mist Trail is one of the park’s most memorable experiences, leading guests toward Vernal Fall and beyond to Nevada Fall, with stunning views and a true sense of Yosemite’s power and beauty. For easier outings, Lower Yosemite Falls and Bridalveil Fall are both popular short walks with rewarding scenery close to the main valley areas. These spots can get crowded, so visiting earlier in the day often makes for a more enjoyable experience

Parking inside Yosemite can be limited, especially during busy times, so many guests find it easiest to park in Yosemite Valley and use the shuttle to get around once inside the park. Visitor centers in both Mariposa and Yosemite Valley are also excellent resources for maps, seasonal recommendations, and current park updates. Guests can even purchase an entrance pass at the Mariposa Visitor Center, which can help avoid waiting in line at the entrance gate. For an easy and low-cost alternative, the YARTS bus is another great option, allowing visitors to skip the driving and simply enjoy the journey into the park.

After a full day of waterfalls, scenic overlooks, and mountain air, Aurum Vineyards offers a peaceful place to unwind. Return to vineyard views, open skies, and the slower rhythm of the foothills — the perfect contrast to a day spent exploring one of the world’s most extraordinary parks.
